GSPRE Symposium 2026: From Fundamental Research to Industrial Innovation
Hot weather, cool science! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2nd GSPRE Symposium at the Graduate School of Precision Engineering, University of Bern. The afternoon featured three inspiring invited talks that showcased the broad spectrum of precision engineering research, ranging from space instrumentation and mass spectrometry to industrial innovations and advanced materials characterization. A big thank you to our guest speakers, Prof. Dr. Audrey Vorburger from the University of Bern's Space Research & Planetary Sciences team, Dr. Daniel Rosenfeld from Melexis, and Dr. Nicholas Randall from Alemnis, for sharing their expertise and inspiring engaging discussions. Our PhD students also presented their research during dynamic poster pitches and a lively poster session, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of precision engineering. We were especially pleased to officially welcome six new PhD students to GSPRE. Their research projects cover a diverse range of topics, including perioperative AI planning, smart molecular sensors, ground-based measurement of skyglow, next-generation iridescent coatings, future electrical contact materials, and polarimetric life detection. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this year's symposium such a great success. We are already looking forward to welcoming you again next year!
