Courses and Examinations

The doctoral programme at GSPRE requires candidates to select courses to earn a minimum of 6 ECTS that are approved by the programme. For a comprehensive course catalogue, please consult the list provided below.

Important Information

It is recommended to become familiar with the Core Teaching System CTS (German: KSL) and ILIAS - the learning platform by the University of Bern.

ECTS marked with an asterisk (*) are considered transferable skills and do not count toward the mandatory 6 ECTS.

CTS root numbers refer to the electronic index of the lecture.

Please note that registration is mandatory for all courses including the scientific integrity course.

Record Consistency

Ensure that University student records and GSPRE student records (DA) match. List all mandatory courses in the DA under Mandatory Requirements; those listed as mandatory must be passed with only one retake allowed.

All requirements and lectures specified in the DA have to be fulfilled before taking the mid-term exam.

Requirements

  1. Earn a minimum of 6.0 ECTS from courses & workshops relevant to your research project. Transferable skills courses are not part of the 6.0 ECTS minimum.
  2. Participate in the «Scientific Integrity» lecture and the GSPRE Symposium from the first year.
  3. Present your work at internal meetings or national and international conferences. Details will be mentioned in the doctoral agreement.

ECTS are awarded for courses with performance assessments (exam, talk, poster presentation, or written report).
